About The Author

Lauren has always had a passion for reading and writing, even while building her career as a dentist. Originally from Dubuque, Iowa, she now calls Austin, Texas home. She always (secretly) dreamed of writing a book, but it wasn’t until the birth of her daughter in January 2025 that she realized the path to that dream was through children’s books. 

The idea for her first book came as she transitioned from dog mom to human mom. Watching the ever-evolving dynamic between her first (dog) baby, Rio, and her newborn (human) baby, Amal, inspired a story for families experiencing the same beautifully chaotic life adjustment. She teamed up with an amazing illustrator in Pakistan, where her husband's family is from, to help bring her vision to life. 

When she’s not in the office or chasing after Amal and Rio, you’ll find her doing Pilates, reading, trying new Austin restaurants, or spending time outside with her family. Lauren plans to continue expanding her collection of children's books by seeing the world through her daughter’s eyes and writing the stories she hopes Amal–and children everywhere–will find relatable, humorous, uplifting and empowering.
